Herstat® works to balance clinically-proven actives with clean ingredients to create nature-led, science-backed formulas that don't cut corners.
The process by which we refine our trademarked propolis extracts - PropolisACF®, Propolis Complex B® and Propolis Complex C® - doesn't use excess heat or chemical additives, retaining potent levels of clinically-proven flavonoids and minerals.
In our cold sore and genital sore treatments, Propolis acts as a proven alternative to synthetic preservatives (it is the reason our treatments aren't bright white creams) and works to protect the skin barrier by forming a moisture-locked hydration barrier. By replacing harsh synthetic preservatives for a benefit-driven clean alternative, we haven't simply 'adapted' the formula - we've enhanced it.
Bee Propolis
The immune system of the beehive. Known for potent antioxidant properties, we use it as a natural preservative + as a skin protectant

Beeswax
A natural wax created by bees. We use
it to provide a firmer texture to ointments making them easier to apply

Carnauba Wax
A natural wax derived from the leaves of Brazilian Palm tree. The wax naturally traps moisture on the skin’s surface to prevent water loss

Almond Oil
Rich in Vitamin E, Almond Oil naturally softens the skin and helps to soothe irriated skin by locking moisture

Menthol
Derived from mint. Used in treatments to relieve outbreak pain, itching + discomfort, or to provide a cooling sensation

Camphor
Naturally derived from camphor tree bark. We use it to speed the healing process and to relieve pain and itching during an outbreak

Thyme Leaf Oil
Rich source of antioxidants. We use it for its soothing qualities and to help keep products sterile due to its antimicrobial qualities

Eucalyptus Oil
Naturally antioxidant and antiseptic, we use eucalyptus oil to preserve the formulations and for soothing outbreak relief

Olive Oil
Rich in polyphenols and antioxidants which nourish and protect the skin barrier, keeping skin around outbreaks soft and supple

Castor Seed Oil
A nutrient-rich oil, naturally high in ricinoleic acid, which possesses emollient properties that help hydrate and soften the skin

Vitamin E
Works to neutralise free radicals within the body, protecting bodily cells from oxidative stress

Mineral Oil: Petrolatum
A refined mineral oil which acts as a barrier to help protect and moisturize the skin. We use high-grade oil that creates an environment conducive to healing

Mineral Oil: Cosmetic Liquid Paraffin
Widely used in skincare since 400BC, it is a non-toxic oil that helps keep ointments and creams spreadable, even in cold temperatures

Lanolin
Natural waxy substance that sheep produce to protect their wool. Acts as an occlusive barrier that prevents moisture loss from the skin

Glyceryl Oleate
Made by combining glycerin and oleic acid, it helps to keep the ointment stable and makes it soft, emollient, gentle and moisturizing

Grain Alcohol
Our propolis is extracted with alcohol produced by the natural fermentation of starches from grains. Most of this natural-origin alcohol is evaporated, but we leave <1% in some products to help the even spread of propolis, thyme and eucalyptus oils
